Bigfoot Culture – The ‘Rising Wind’ Book Series: Rock My Soul. Part Three of Four. A Unique Exciting Exchange With Bigfoot?

A strong pattern of observation as a prelude to interaction with lots of help from Mateo Arguello, Glenn Norberg, and my cousin, Heidi… I hope you enjoyed reading Part One of this informative information on the sightings and research by my friends and family.”

We know there have been many reports about this willy beast in many states like Washington, California, and Oregon forests. And in many other states in America and around the world. Could Bigfoots still be reproducing and growing families we don’t know about? Well, it could be possible and explain the many sightings. So let’s dive into part two and see what else Mateo and others have to say, shall we!

Garden of The Gods

Scrub Oak Hide and Seek – Part Three

“After my very personal introduction to Sasquatch, I was still nervous about going alone into South Cheyenne Canyon after dark. It would be two years before I would. I guess I wasn’t technically alone; I was with Tom and, occasionally, other friends in the Glen Erie area, a location slightly northwest of the ‘Garden of the Gods.’ For some reason, I thought we’d be far enough away from the Cheyenne Canyons on the other side of Ute Pass that Sasquatches couldn’t find me. It gave me a false sense of security.

I was confident I’d be safe in the area of Glen Erie, an English Tudor Castle built in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer, an early resident of Colorado Springs who took an interest in the arcane inventions of Nicola Tesla, who built his Tesla Experimental Station in 1899. Tesla had found a way to harness lightning, but the outcome was not necessarily popular with the region’s inhabitants. Even though he was an extraordinary scientist and made theoretical physics functional, most of his inventions were patented by others.

“The adjacent property was the celebrated Flying W Ranch, famous for their ‘chuckwagon dinners’ served on rolled metal plates as the cowboys used. Guests were entertained by what some called ‘tumbleweed’ music played by the Flying W Wranglers, a cowboy band.”

There was a wash or gully between these two iconic properties where Tom and I would run miles through the wilderness at night. Using cunning and stealth, we’d chase and hunt each other in glorified games of moonlight tag, or rather hide and seek among the conifers, scrub oak, and upright sandstone ridges and pinnacles. We went to the same spot almost every night around twilight to play. It became a ritual for us and helped us become strong. We tested different strategies and tactics trying to escape from one another.

I was the first to arrive one night in November, at 11 p.m., at a spot between the borders of the two properties. Tom always ran late. It was a Tom thing – late every single time. It felt like winter, and there were little patches of snow on the ground. Not too much, but it was cold. While waiting, I decided to rock climb up a sheer sandstone ridge to keep warm and get the lay of the land. Perhaps I could get the drop on Tom after he arrived and started to look for me. Finding a route to the crest in the middle of the night was really exciting. I stayed up top checking things out before dropping over to the other side to explore and continue waiting for Tom to come.

Finally, I heard him a quarter-mile away doing howls. We would howl really loud to let the other person know our location or keep in touch with one another.

Photo: Arguably, the most famous and influential Bigfoot footage is the 1967 film Roger Patterson, and Bob Gimlin shot in Northern California. The “Bigfoot walk” it depicts has been parodied by many, but never truly replicated. Even with this enhanced image, it’s hard to tell if it’s a person in a gorilla suit or the real deal.

If one of us hid too well and the other person couldn’t find them, the game got stagnant, and it was easy to become demotivated and bored. A howl would keep the game going. Although howls could indicate our direction, sometimes we’d fake the distance with softer calls. As I listened carefully, I heard his howls getting closer. It sounded like he was close to me now – 200 or maybe 250 yards away, but his screams became quieter again. I thought he was faking me out. Sometimes I’d turn away and make my howl quieter, so it sounded like I was in a different spot, and it would be harder for whoever was chasing me to discover me.

I just assumed that was what he was doing, but it turned out that his howls weren’t close to me. They sounded farther away – strange because I thought he must be close now. I was listening, paying attention, and I heard a noise – it couldn’t have been very far away – within thirty-five feet.

I assumed he was just out of sight around a bend. It sounded like he came onto the trail and then scurried back up at an angle. I heard him crunching his way up the side of this gravel hill above me, smash, smash, smash, coming right over me to a small cluster of brush encircling a tree. I couldn’t see him, but I heard him, he’s a big guy. You could tell he was trying to be very quiet, but because he was walking in the gravel on a steep slope, crunch, crunch, smash

He stopped right above me, behind the brush at the tree. At this point, he was probably ten feet away – right there, I heard him. I’d been paying attention, listening, waiting for him to come and get me – then nothing. I heard him come right up to me, but instead of rushing at me, he wasn’t doing anything. Very uncharacteristic of Tom. The moment he saw you, he’d go right after you without stopping. That was his advantage because he’s fast. Waiting in stealth was weird behavior for him.

Now he was just chilling. I waited thirty seconds, well, I’d already been waiting for him for an hour, so I said, “Dude, Tom, come and get me.” And as soon as I finished the sentence, I heard Tom’s howl in the distance. Shit! Oh, my gosh. That’s not Tom! Because of the experience I’d had a year or two before in South Cheyenne Canyon, I started panicking.

Somehow in my head, I thought the Rampart Range would be different. Sasquatches were not going to be there. That’s why I let myself play out here at night instead of the canyons down south. I started panicking because there was a 98% chance that what sneaked up above to observe me was a Sasquatch

It took the high ground, the key terrain – things that a regular person wouldn’t do. It was right above me. Tom would consider it because we’d discussed military tactics and strategies, then we’d practice them. It came naturally to us. One of the essentials was to get key terrain and high ground.

Now I was freaking out, but I wanted to be sure I was right. Getting really critical has always been my safety net, I thought maybe that was Tom, so I pulled out my phone and called him right then and there. ‘Bro, where are you?’ Then he said, ‘I must be a quarter of a mile away from you.’

“Oh my gosh, please, please come over here as fast as you can. Please.’
Then I hung up the phone. I had my headlamp, and I could have easily turned it on at this point – a sign of distress for Tom to see, and I could have used it to look right into the face of whoever was standing over me, but I wasn’t ready at that time. I didn’t want another frightening experience. I couldn’t look into the features of a creature I knew nothing about.

It was the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere, and I didn’t have an easy escape route. If I went out the way, I wanted to, into the rugged country, which would have been okay if Tom was the one chasing me – but not okay if a North American Hominid was chasing me. I’d have no advantage.

My best option, even though the riskiest, was to run back down the trail. If this thing wanted to cut me off, it would be so easy for it to come in at an angle as I ran. It wasn’t the best bet, but I didn’t know what else to do. In desperation, I began screaming and running, trying to look as big and intimidating as possible. I sprinted with all my might, descending the trail as fast as I could, down to the open mining scar, and on down to where I could look across the valley for Tom, but I stopped before the path dropped into the draw that separated the Flying W Ranch and the Glen Eyrie properties.
I was terrified, but I was safe – so far.

The Flying W Ranch Colorado

On the opposite side, there was another hill where I saw Tom’s silhouette on the slope, which inclined up towards the other “Garden of the Gods” type rocks. I couldn’t imagine why he would be so far away. Something was off. He was still a quarter-mile away. I howled to get him to come down, and I saw him running into the valley towards me. But when he got close to the bottom, he turned around and started running all the way back up that slope. What was going on! At this point, I turned on my light, a sign for Dude, get over here!

Tom saw my light and finally came all the way across the valley and up to where I met him. I still didn’t feel comfortable even with him there because we were surrounded by trees and scrub oak, so we ran all the way back up the trail to the scar, which is a desolate hill that had been shaved off – mined for gypsum to help build the Air Force Academy. It was a large open space, and we could easily see anything trying to sneak up on us.

After we met, I told him what happened, that I was certain I’d been approached by a Sasquatch. He was a little skeptical but also had something weird to report. He explained that he’d turned around because as he came closer and had almost reached the valley floor, he heard something behind and above him. He looked back and saw the silhouettes of two individuals following quietly, one behind the other on the path he’d just come down.

He was able to make out their outlines because there was adequate light from the stars, the city, and the moon. Now he thought I’d tricked him, bringing unannounced friends, which we did at times to make the game more interesting. He also said that when he came down into the bushes at the bottom of the gully, he briefly saw another figure creeping through the brush, but it quickly left his view.

He guessed that silhouette had been me – that I had double-crossed him. He thought I’d made the phone call as a prank to draw him in. As far as he could tell, we were setting up a proper ambush – trying to catch him in the middle – so he took off to evade the trap. That’s when his howls became more distant because I was now chasing him in his mind. That is until he saw my light illuminate from across the valley.

That’s when he knew I was serious and headed back down to join me. I assured him I had been there well over an hour, and there were no other humans. I told him about the chill feeling that came over me when I realized it wasn’t him behind me. Oh, oh my gosh, that’s not Tom. That’s something else. The only thing I could think of was Sasquatch. But my intuition told me it didn’t want to cause me harm. It was there because it wanted to play what we were playing. I was still scared because it was an uncontrollable element, an unknown variable.

I thought I didn’t know anything about youRight now, you’re kind of a monster. I was certain it was a North American hominid who wanted to play. I didn’t get any threatening intent, similar to the way I felt scared but not endangered during the first encounter – until I became aggressive. My thoughts were reinforced when Tom told his story of another pair of individuals just following him around and perhaps another one observing him in the valley bottom. Apparently, we had intermeshed with a group of youngsters. My immediate thought was they had seen us play here night after night and wanted to be included. They could associate with what we’re doing because they almost certainly played tag and chase when we weren’t there.

One thing Tom said, and it’s hard to know for sure, was that one of the vocalized howls wasn’t him, and he didn’t think it was from me either. He thought it was strange. I didn’t hear anything like that, but I also wasn’t paying much attention. I thought it was Tom the whole time, but the closer calls coming up to me might not have been him. The realization of what we’d experienced was so frightening, like out of a scary movie or book. You’ve gotta be kidding me. I ran into bears and mountain lions at night and did not feel scared. It wasn’t that they weren’t dangerous, but I knew what to do. That night I had been interacting with creatures that weren’t even supposed to exist.

I didn’t know how to operate. What would happen if the situation became violent or aggressive? How could I avoid them? You can’t just go around them like you would a mountain lion or bear if you needed to. That was one of the scariest pieces at the time. I decided not to go out anywhere at night without a gun. In retrospect, it was the perfect setting for a group of young Sasquatch to conduct a controlled interactive experiment with humans. There was lots of cover for concealment, and they had a myriad of safe approach routes to get close, to observe, and interact with us. They had the advantage and knew the trails.

Curiosity and interaction were the main points of their visits. We were playing games out there, so we weren’t focused on them; we focused on each other until they let us know they were around! They were interested in what we were doing because they could identify with the games. I stand by that assessment. That was something they did – they saw us doing it, and they wanted to join in. That’s why they got so close, just trying to follow us, playing around – presumably hoping we might be open to the experience.”

Part Two of Four – Bigfoot Culture – Mateo’s First Interactive Exposure.

“Around 11 p.m. my girlfriend Kaitlyn and I heard something moving through the brush across the road from where we were sitting on a picnic table in South Cheyenne Canyon. There was more than one sound signature, a group of something was moving and making crunching noises in the bushes. Kaitlyn asked, ‘Do you hear that? What is it?’

“I easily dismissed the sounds and told her they were deer. I was familiar with the area and pretty confident that I knew what was going on. We had a huge population of “mulies” right up against our bustling city. She was frustrated because for her this pattern had been building up for days. For me, this was the first occasion, and I insisted that I heard noises like this all the time and it had always ended up just being deer. I was willing to let it go, but obviously, it was bothering her.

“An hour later, we were still sitting in the dark on the picnic table chatting when I realized the sound signatures of the group of things that were moving through the deep brush and wooded area across the street had never stopped, they had continued for an hour and a half. Now I became curious, what was going on? There was a deer trail back in there, which is why I first assumed they were deer. But deer wouldn’t chill, making noises in the brush. It was a dangerous place for them. They could get ambushed, right? They would simply pass through.

“I wanted to know what or who this was so I went across the road to investigate. I wasn’t planning to go into the brush, just walk along the pavement and try to figure out the source of the noise. Kaitlyn had bad feelings, like something strange was up. She didn’t want me to leave, and her intuition turned out to be right – something was off.

“Looking back, I can remember several times that women picked up on the ‘Sasquatch vibe’ way before I did. I listen better now – I think. Before that, if I heard something fall near me, I’d dismiss it as the wind or an acorn dropping. All whistles sounded like human whistles, and the woos was almost imperceptibly quiet. It took several exposures before I learned to hear them. It was so easy to miss the signals because they weren’t for me – their signals were for each other.

“Equipped only with my I-phone flashlight because I had no weapon, I went anyway not expecting trouble. I closed in on the first of what I thought were three separate creature signatures maybe fifteen to twenty feet off the road. But the brush was too thick to see anything. When I stood directly in front of the spot where the first sound was generated, I heard the creature making noise. Then as I stepped toward it, it froze but I still couldn’t see anything. It dawned on me that this wasn’t a small animal, a deer, or any predator I was used to because they would have turned and run away by now.

“There had been three distinct signatures, maybe three to five meters apart. The other two creatures were still making noise so I continued to walk down the road about twenty feet to the second spot to see what or whoever was in there, but it also stopped making noise. I heard something hit the ground behind me. When I twisted around, I saw a small rock bouncing on the ground. I brought my eyes up to look across the street and noticed Kaitlyn was getting into her car.

Sightings in Ill.

I thought, okay maybe she threw it at me as a sign. Then I realized that she was too far away to toss a small pebble like that, maybe a bigger rock with some weight behind it, but not a little pebble. I brushed it off and walked over to the third signature – and it stopped making noise too. It didn’t leave, or panic, it stayed right in front of me – unseen.

I couldn’t figure out what was going on, so I thought whatever, and turned to start walking back toward the picnic table. After three or four steps I saw a little pebble come out of the brush and hit right in front of me. I actually saw it come out of the brush and smack the pavement; it even bounced a little bit. I thought, okay those aren’t deer. It wasn’t Kaitlyn, what is going on? No animal I knew could throw in that way.

At this point, I don’t know if I contemplated it was Sasquatches, but I was becoming suspicious about the behaviors, and the only other possibility was that it must have been people, but I couldn’t think of anybody who would be willing to spend an hour and a half hiding just to prank someone by making little noises in the woods – much less three people being so patient. I was perplexed by such unusual behavior. Even I, a born prankster, wouldn’t have done that.

“Deciding to be on the safe side, I went over to see Kaitlyn and ask her if she threw a rock – even though I saw the last one come directly out of the brush. I was in denial and I needed to think critically, it was my defense mechanism because the situation was too weird for me to take in. In my worldview, these had to be people, even though they had an unusual amount of persistence, and the way they were trying to scare us was very odd. Realistically, what else could it be?

“When I explained this to Kaitlyn, she thought I was trying to mess with her. In frustration, she said, ‘Are you serious?’ She was freaking out thinking something had been trying to get our attention. When we spoke about this night years later, she said that wasn’t the only time pebbles had been thrown at us. The same thing had happened on several occasions. Little rocks would hit and drop around us and our vehicles. So, it bothered her when I ignored the obvious signs. Somebody had been trying to get our attention for several weeks.

“Now, I was intrigued. I was going in to find out who this was, thinking it must be teenagers messing with us since that was what I had done up there when I was a teen – scaring other kids who were drunk or high, and I had gotten a kick out of it. Ironically that might have been what brought in the real ‘monsters,’ me pretending to be one.

“I’ll explain, I knew the area well. I’d hiked and run all over that place since high school. Besides, I’d been through the Marine Corps and had a lot of strategic experience. I knew there was a ‘social trail’ that went up to the mesa that was nestled between the North and South Cheyenne canyons, and it came very near to our current location. From the social trail, I would take the deer trail which ran alongside the road, only thirty feet away from where our cars were parked.

“My girlfriend didn’t want me to go but I insisted, so she said, ‘Fine, I’m not staying here. I’m going with you.’

“Because this was not a secluded area in the deep forest, I assured her there had to be people. We were on the edge of a big city and there were tons of visitors and hikers around day and night particularly when it was warm. People were everywhere, especially in the summertime.

“All we had was the lights on our phones and they couldn’t penetrate the brush very far. We walked cautiously along the trail to a little berm where the noises and throws came from, directly across from our cars. I didn’t see anything but felt no urge to go in deeper. I felt vulnerable because the things I’d expected to find weren’t adding up.

There was no evidence of people in those places where I thought they would be. If they had moved or run, I would have heard them moving away in the brush, and there were no other manufactured light sources. We did find smaller marked trails in the brush that crisscrossed the normal human and deer paths. These weren’t for large individuals, maybe the size a teen would make. Once again, I couldn’t explain the situation, so I decided to dismiss it. ‘Alright let’s just head back. I can’t see anything.’

“I returned to the paved road all the while denying the pebbles and other incidents when we heard people come and park in a nearby picnic site, located a little farther up the hill, and on the other side of the creek. So, what came to mind at that moment? I wanted to prank them. To scare them away for laughs. It was fun, what can I say?

“I started making loud scary screams, yells, and other noises. My efforts had the desired effect and they all ran to their vehicles, slammed their car doors, and bugged out. At some point, Kaitlyn must have thought I was nuts.

“After five minutes of being impressed with myself, we started to walk across the pavement toward our cars, and when we were only thirty feet from the spot the noises and pebbles had come from fifteen minutes before – suddenly, all hell broke loose! The brush became an explosion of action and noise! We heard crashing and banging, large sticks and huge rocks were thrown all around us. When the Scrub oak had started to tremble and shake, I knew these weren’t humans. Normally these trees don’t get very big – but these were especially large, maybe five inches in diameter – they’d been around for a long time.

“My whole world of denial was shattered that night. These beings were unmistakably Sasquatches. This knowledge affected me worse than war, which was also a shattering experience – but not like this – at least in war I knew my enemy.

“Then, it got worse. They had waited to rush us until we were on the road heading back to the vehicles, then we heard the bluff charge. Something sounding like a freight train came right behind us – just like in ‘Jurassic Park.’ The rush of the charge tore through the shuddering oaks and came right up to the edge of the road – within inches of us. We stared ahead, like deer headlights – too afraid to look.

“These massive individuals had rushed right up to us – so fast! Everything became chaotic; they could have been on top of us in seconds, yet they stopped. It was clear even at that moment that they weren’t trying to hit us, but they certainly managed to terrify us. Some of them were moving around in the tall scrub oaks, rattling them menacingly – a very clear sign for us to ‘get the heck out.’

“This time I wasn’t going to stick around to confirm their identity. Now I believed Sasquatches were very real, and a group of them, adults and younger ones, had been only a couple of branches away from our faces. Right in front of us. It was very clear that they were not happy and wanted us to leave – immediately. So chaotic!

“I felt my life was in danger. We raced for the cars, scared for our lives. If my nerves had allowed it, I could have possibly looked up into the Sasquatches’ eyes. but at that moment the thought was simply too frightening. Instead, I quickly escorted Kaitlyn to her car, saying, ‘Meet me at the gas station on Eighth Street.’ Then I jumped into my Honda Civic and we got out of there as fast as we could. I actually tried to put the lights of the Honda on them but the beams were set too low to see them.

“We met up at the gas station and I had her repeat everything that happened. I told what I had experienced. We weren’t crazy. It was all there, we’d both witnessed, felt, and experienced the exact same events. I didn’t want to believe there were monstrous hominids in my backyard – because that changed everything. Until that night I’d felt comfortable in this part of the mountains. I used to feel safe moving around in the brush, on the trails, hiking, and running around at night. Now I felt that assurance of safety and control had been taken from me.

“Kaitlyn and I drove back the following day and again parked across the road from our encounter which had banished my denial for good. We wanted to see if there was any physical confirmation of what we’d experienced and we found copious evidence of the destruction.

Signs of the aftermath were everywhere. The adult Sasquatches broke several trees and they snapped off many branches to be pitched at us. Other limbs were broken when their rushing bodies crashed down a path to chase us away. We didn’t find the specific rocks they threw because it was a rocky area, but such a destructive force was let loose!

“Unimaginably large foot impressions were crushed into the leaf carpeted earth right up to the pavement. One print measured sixteen inches; another was eighteen inches in length. These were not the juveniles from before, these protectors were huge! I tried to step into the leaf litter which concealed the red soil with my boots to recreate the deep impressions which were mind-boggling. I couldn’t even make a dent. The thick topping of leaves wouldn’t stay down even when I continued to jump in the soil right beside the huge impressions, I didn’t have the weight or strength.

I’d smash my boots into the ground to make my prints stay – the leaves would crinkle but then they would crinkle back up. I said, ‘Wow this must have been something big and heavy.’ The tiny little suggestion in my head that we’d gotten hoaxed, ran away screaming. There was no alternative explanation for the conclusion we drew when things went crazy the previous night. And with that, the hoax idea was finally obliterated.

“We came back again the very next night and I brought chem-lights or glow sticks which were less powerful than phone flashlights but we also used headlamps which were brighter to do some tests. My mind couldn’t eradicate the events, so I needed to control them with experiments. Kaitlyn couldn’t see me twenty to twenty-five feet inside the brush with her phone light and headlamp. With the glow sticks I could see only five feet in, or maybe fifteen feet at certain angles, but nothing beyond that because the shrubbery was too dense. I’d like to reach out to her again now, for more of an interview.

“All at once, I realized that all the weird stuff I’d seen, or events I’d heard about in the canyon and up at Seven Falls over the years was true. The accounts my friends had given about creatures they’d encountered at night were valid. Before this experience I disregarded such stories, deciding those people were either mentally unstable or had experienced something paranormal in nature.

I never thought it was actually something alive and physically operating in the vicinity where I lived and worked. Then I remembered finding weird deer kills that I couldn’t explain along the side of the road. Some people said it was the work of Satanists. I didn’t agree, but I had no other explanation at the time.

“It occurs to me now, that they were probably watching us do our reconnaissance – the whole time. In retrospect, I realize that my actions elicited the adult Sasquatches’ response. I went in there screaming, outranking this group. I think they reacted to my aggressive behavior. I feel pretty confident about that now.

“When introducing yourself to any new culture you don’t want to approach someone in a bold scary manner. You should be gentler, more patient – not tense, on guard, or too eager – They might let you know they are interested if you are placid. Wait for them to come to you. But that’s not likely to happen if you’re scared.

“We must consider that we are very dangerous. They have to be gentle – careful when approaching us too. It’s a two-way street no matter what species you’re dealing with. Humans need to be more tactful in their approaches – to build that rapport. That’s how Sasquatch approaches us and that’s how we need to approach them.

“Even their pebble throws are a gentle sign of inquiry – a kind of experiment to get your attention and let you know they’re there waiting to see what you do next. Sometimes the intensity increases if they don’t get a reaction.

“Pebble throwing is a universal primate behavior. It’s like when a boy throws a pebble at a girl’s window. We do it, they do it, gorillas and chimps do it to get someone’s attention. They want you to know they’re interested in interacting with you. It’s a behavior to protect themselves yet let you know they are interested without freaking you out. If they came right out and said, ‘Hey what’s up, my name’s Bob,’ we’d be terrified, that’s just too aggressive.

This group in the canyon has been around so long that they’ve built up an understanding – a way to interact in an effective manner. They know how to open up communication channels with those of us who are perceptive. At first glance, I didn’t understand this behavior. It took me years to realize this wasn’t aggression, I was making it too complex. The more simple, obvious answer was the right one.”

A strong pattern of observations as a prelude to interaction!

I hope you enjoy reading more of this amazing research and the stories of my friends. Part three will be coming up very soon, so until next time! ~ Diane

Developing the Sacred Virtue of Determination

Dedication

Whether we’re trying to complete a boring job, fighting the evil of an addiction or a mean bully, or siding with a group of misfits who are saving the planet from aliens breaching from another dimension; the struggle to focus our abilities and stay in the fight is a real challenge.

We must dedicate ourselves to the problem. In that moment, we believe we’ll be successful in overcoming the antagonistic force or forces.

Distraction

Later, we may wake up in a state of forgetfulness. Maybe, we don’t feel up to snuff. The goal just doesn’t feel as important as it did yesterday. Possibly we are beset by disillusionment, depression, maybe fear, or even pain.

If we are lucky, something inside us screams against the lethargy “No! I’ve got to do this no matter how I feel, whatever the cost or discomfort.”

Rededication

We have become willing to sacrifice our comfort and our fears. We might even become altruistic. Success is in the mindset even if in the most extreme cases, like a battlefield, obliteration is a likely result.

We didn’t give up, or defeat ourselves. We fought our way through to whatever end we chose to achieve, despite the cost.

Determination

We are given plenty of opportunities to practice and strengthen this virtue for a reason. Early levels of development might include learning to stand and walk, or how to communicate with others (a life-long endeavor). Later, we battle antagonists like boredom, bullies, inept bosses, war, illness, and death.

These challenges can help develop and strengthen our souls. The endgame could be that we dedicate ourselves to God, and to serving His creation. In doing so we achieve the pinnacle of selflessness. Immersion with the Creator. Think of Mother Teresa, the Dalai Lama, Pope Francis, or Swami Prabhavananda.

This is the path of the Apostles in each Age. It is necessary for their sacrifices and determination, to protect and grow the tiny flame brought by the Prophet, in each rebirth of the Single, Ancient Faith of God, for all eternity.

Respect and Consideration

All the Prophets and Manifestations taught us to develop virtues here in the spirit kindergarten of earthly life. We will need these virtues in the next world, like we needed to develop limbs and eyes in the world of the womb – even though it might not have been fully clear why, at the time.

No matter what Faith you profess, or if you commune with God in an aspen meadow, you know the comfort and warmth of the love of God, Allah or any other name. As you feel filled with that love, you know you must share it with other beings; whether they be plants, animals, people; or even the earth, rocks, and sky.

“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.”  ~Bryan H McGill

“Knowledge gives you power, but character respect.” ~Bruce Lee

“The blood that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life.”  ~Richard Bach

“Respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides our manners.”
~Laurence Sterne

It is not only their fellow human beings that the beloved of God must treat with mercy and compassion, rather must they show forth the utmost loving-kindness to every living creature. For in all physical respects, and where the animal spirit is concerned, the selfsame feelings are shared by animal and man. Man hath not grasped this truth, however, and he believeth that physical sensations are confined to human beings.

Wherefore is he unjust to the animals, and cruel? And yet in truth, what difference is there when it comes to physical sensations? The feelings are one and the same, whether ye inflict pain on man or on beast. There is no difference here, whatever. And in deed you do worse to harm an animal, for man hath a language, he can lodge a complaint, he can cry out and moan; if injured he can have recourse to the authorities …

But the hapless beast is mute, able neither to express its hurt or take its case to the authorities … Therefore, it is essential that ye show forth the utmost consideration to the animal, and that ye be even kinder to him than to your fellow man. Train your children from their earliest days to be infinitely tender and loving to animals. If an animal be sick, let them try to heal it, if it be hungry, let them feed it, if thirsty, let them quench its thirst, if weary let them see that it rest.

“Messengers of God’s – Sharing His Word” Part Three.

Welcome Back Friends, Readers, and Visitors,

I am rounding out my last two blog posts with post three of this series. I hope you have enjoyed reading and hope you all had a Happy Easter!

All of the Manifestations or Revealers of God’s Word; knew, respected and loved one another, from the Beginning. They were aware of what they and their peers would suffer, and how humanity would mess with the “Word of God”, as we always have.

They knew that the renewal They brought to this world would, eventually fail miserably. The Message would become diffused and ambiguous. Christ acknowledged sadly, we would call ourselves His, but He will know us not.

People would start churches and monasteries etc., that were never meant to exist. Even worse, religion would become an excuse to attack and murder other people, the animal, plants – even the earth…

We have mentioned some examples of how the Great Prophets told us of Others who would come bearing God’s Word to renew the perfection of His religion and clear up the misunderstandings men had created by demeaning the purity of the last Revelation. These Beings also brought social laws from the age in which they lived, a new calendar and many other marvels specific to each of Them. For example, there are remnants of at least nine Great Religions in the world and yes, there are nine calendars currently in use.

But the loving bonds continue between the “Bearers of the Holy Spirit;” the past, present, and future; and with the occupants of this planet, what HE promises and to whom They all serve!

These Great Ones not only told us about the next ones to come, and gave strict warnings to guide humanity not to fall for everyone who made a claim to that station. They also edified the ones Who came before them. And in no uncertain terms offered punishment to all who did not believe in the previous Prophet or several Prophets.

Charlton-Heston-Moses-10-commandments

Christ gave an example in John 5, chapters 45 and 46:

45: “Do not think that I shall not accuse you to the Father; there is One who accuses you – Moses, in whom you trust.

46: For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; For He wrote about Me.”

Muhammed edifies Christ and Moses.

“…when Muhammad proclaimed His work and mission, His first objection to His own followers was, “Why have you not believed on Jesus Christ? Why have you not accepted the Gospel? Why have you not believed in Moses? Why have you not followed the precepts of the Old Testament? Why have you not understood the prophets of Israel? Why have you not believed in the disciples of Christ? The first duty incumbent upon ye, O Arabians, is to accept and believe in these.

You must consider Moses as a Prophet. You must accept Jesus Christ as the Word of God. You must know the Old and the New Testaments as the Word of God. You must believe in Jesus Christ as the product of the Holy Spirit.

His people answered, ‘O Muḥammad! We will become believers although our fathers and ancestors were not believers, and we are proud of them. Tell us what is going to become of them?’ Muḥammad replied, ‘I declare unto you that they occupy the lowest stratum of hell because they did not believe in Moses and Christ and because they did not accept the Bible, and although they are my own ancestors, yet they are in despair in hell.’ This is an explicit text of the Qur’án; it is not a story or tradition but from the Qur’án itself, which is in the hands of the people. Therefore, it is evident that ignorance and misunderstanding have caused so much warfare and strife between Christians and Muslims. If both should investigate the underlying truth of their religious beliefs, the outcome would be unity and agreement…”

Baha’u’llah, the Glory of God, highly and frequently praised the Bab, Mohammad, Christ, Moses, and all other Revealers of God’s Word – back to times beyond human memory. Each of these holy Beings praises the previous Embodiments of the Holy Spirit and foretells the advent of the next One and the One who will come at the end of the Age. This last One would be known as the Fifth Buddha, the Spirit of Truth, the Sayoshyant, or Baha’u’llah – the Glory of the Lord, etc. as anticipated by the different faiths.

There is One God, and one core to His religion – in all ages. We should appreciate this.

“The Friend (AKA Comforter) of God” Part One…

th9hm3jkb0

.

“Christ told us there would be other manifestations of the Holy Spirit, which would come to earth. He would go away – back to God, whom He loves. But we should not be sad because He would send others. He mentions the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth and a strait Gate or Door. They would speak His words, but not with His lips, and come with new names. This time I would like to explore the Comforter. I will tell you hints about His life and you can tell me who you think it is. Next time, we can talk about the Spirit of Truth and then, The Gate.”

16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

16:8 And when he has come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 16:10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

15:26 But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 15:27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (King James Bible, John)

7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

(King James Bible, Matthew)

2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. (King James Bible, Revelation)

The Comforter or Friend of God is sometimes referred to as the Apostle of God.

Obviously, He is a Bearer of the Holy Spirit, but who was He? Has He come to earth? It is said that the night He was born, his mother saw light streaming from Him, all the way up to the stars; the idols of the Ka’ba toppled over, in all the magicians and Zoroastrian temples, the fires went out on all the fire altars.

He was a poor young man who practiced several trades to make ends meet. He became known for the Purity of His life. They called Him the Trusted One. He married the love of His life, and theirs was one of the true love stories in history. They had a lovely and spiritually gifted daughter.

He often climbed Mt/ Hira, a cone-shaped mountain, where He first saw the Angel Gabriel veiled in a light, on a throne of fire!

.

.

As was typical, He was born into a cruel world where idolaters buried infant girls alive in the sand and dehumanized women in general.

At God’s bidding, He went out and faced these vicious mobs. Even His family counseled to leave things alone and not stir up trouble – not anger the gods “or else”.

Those who believed He spoke God’s Word were harassed, banished, harmed and Killed. Many said this man was a liar, not a Prophet. They said He could not have written a holy Book because he was poor and had never been educated or taught to write. Clearly, they thought He must be lying. They did not measure the truth of His words, with their meditative hearts and souls. If they had, they would have thrown themselves at His feet! Instead, they called Him enemy, they tried to discourage and threaten this gentle Being.

They rejected and persecuted that Wronged One. Where was the love of humanity? He met insults and danger with a lofty and patient trust.

He was humble. Milked the family goats. His family was poor. They never ate their fill of barley bread two days in a row. But He was strict with criminals, yet he forgave personal enemies. The most horrifying example for me is that when they were attacked, a man shoved a spear into His beloved daughter, who was heavily pregnant with His only grandchild, as she was mounted on a camel. If ever there was a day when this heavenly Prophet would say “Kill the infidel” it might have been that day. But no. The killer fell to his knees and begged forgiveness. And he was forgiven!

He was never the enemy of true believers of any Faith. He insisted His followers be respectful of and protectors for people of other Faiths. He introduced personal cleanliness and universities and told His people the world was not flat, long before science postulated the same.

So, who is this gentle, humble immaculate man? What other gifts did He bring the world?

Next Time the Spirit of Truth

The Most Ancient Prophets. . .

“Verily He is the all-Possessing, the Most Exalted. When He purposed to call the new creation into being, He sent forth the Manifest and Luminous Point from the horizon of His Will; It passed through every sign and manifested itself in every form until it reached the zenith, as bidden be God, the Lord of all men.”

The oldest reference to an Educator sent to help early humankind would have to be (as far as I know at this time) is Nu Wa known by other names in Africa. She came to the earliest forms, which had as yet no real social code that differed from the animals. I know of no Apothegms or quotes related to her efforts.

So, let’s talk about what we can learn from the most ancient quote I know of from a Messenger of God. Gayomart is the most ancient Being in the Persian Creation of Avestan texts. He would likely have been the ‘Being’ who is equivalent to Adam in Biblical traditions. The difference is that Adam’s time frame is vague. He is said to be the First but lives in a time of farming animals and grain. There is a famine which drives people to create a food source they can rely on. His “son’s” or descendants are in fact listed in Genesis as farmers.

.

Gayomard
.

Not so in the case of Gayomart or (Keyumers in Persian). He was known as the Lawgiver, the Just. But He was also Gar Shah, First King of the World. He lived in a mountain cave and wore the skins of animals. There was little if any agriculture. His existence actual started in Heaven and He descended at God’s bidding to earth. “Know thyself.” Is one teaching that is first attributed to Him. There is another Quote which I would like to mention, because it is good guidance for all of God’s servants.

An Interesting Thought

“Pay heed to what is said, not to the speaker. Look up to advice and wise words, no matter who says it.” – Gayomart as told in Tabari “The History of the Prophets and Kings” 915 a.d.

“Man must be a lover of the light, no matter in what lamp it may shine.” Baha’ullah

We have it from the earliest and the most recent revelations. The same warning is repeated.

If the Egyptians had heeded these words, they may have recognized Moses for Who He was.

If Jews had left behind their preconceived notions, all Jews may have become Christians.

My New Book!

The Roots of Religion

“Who was the first great Prophet? When was religion born? Did God speak to primitive forms of humans? Are all revealed religions really one long chain? If you’ve ever wondered any of these things, you will enjoy Ancient Ways.”

It is a beautiful winter’s day here in the Pacific Northwest. Similar to the ones I knew in my early years back in the mountains of Colorado. Lots of snow, the wind, and subzero temperatures.

My grandson AJ is beside me listening to “Sounds of Silence” by disturbed. It is his favorite song, as it was for me back in the ‘60s. His little brother Asher just came into the room and gave me a sweet hug for no particular reason. That made it all the sweeter.

So, it is a perfect day for musing. My mind turns to the direction of humanity and God. I know I’ve asked before – how far back in human development does religion reach?

.

.

Many would say that animism, ancestor worship, magic and ritual came first. Then rather recently, belief in one God arose; some would say with Moses or Christ. That sort of thinking was taught to me in my Anthropology training.

But now I think that is the opposite of what happened. I believe that even the very first representatives of Humankind knew a supreme God. Then, over time they added things to the Creator, just as we do today.

I would make a case that Revelation and ritual are opposite ends of a long spectrum – but the opposite of the way my teachers might believe.

Let’s look at Christianity as a sample, though any religion may be used. At first, there was the Bearer of God’s Word. Then there were Apostles and early believers, as well as great enemies. The Apostles spread the Word as revealed by Christ, and told the stories of His teachings. Later it became the state religion and eventually circled the globe. But now it has changed vastly from what it originally was.

.

.

.

There are monasteries, nunneries, temples, churches and missions. There are big investments in real estate, stocks, and TV ministries which accept money. There are dozens of saints, priests, ministers, reverends, and pastors who perform masses, funerals, baptisms, and other rituals.

Christianity, like Hinduism, Judaism, even Buddhism are massive. They run the gamut from God’s Word given to mankind – to plastic and paper charms and trinkets.

Only a tiny portion is the actual teachings which came from the Bearer of the Word of God.

Could we not turn anthropology on its collective ear, and make a case that myth and legend tend to replace religion over time. That humanity has done this time and again. That Revelation and ritual are part of a great process. Not separate independent accidents.

What are your thoughts? Until next time,
